About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced Sybase DBA to manage, optimize, and support complex Sybase ASE / IQ environments. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Sybase Replication, High Availability solutions, and performance tuning, with a proven track record in delivering scalable and resilient database infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Administer, monitor, and optimize Sybase ASE / IQ databases (12.5 and above).
  • Design, configure, and manage Sybase Replication Servers (Warm Standby, MSA, Table / Function level replication).
  • Lead minor & major upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.
  • Implement and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including RPO / RTO management.
  • Perform query fine-tuning, capacity planning, and proactive performance monitoring.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot clusters & replication environments.
  • Manage database backup, recovery, and file systems.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting and end-to-end resolution of incidents via remote sessions / screen-sharing.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation HLD, LLD, SOPs, Run Books.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure database reliability and performance.

Key Skills & Experience :

  • 8+ years of hands-on DBA experience with Sybase ASE / IQ & Replication.
  • Proven expertise in HA / DR solutions and cluster management.
  • Strong background in performance tuning & query optimization.
  • Practical experience with capacity planning and scalability improvements.
  • Deep knowledge of Warm Standby / MSA and advanced replication techniques.
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
