About the role
We’re looking for a Staff Engineer (Platforms) who can drive initiatives that improve developer experience (DevEx), accelerate release cycles, and build scalable internal platforms. This role is a mix of hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and strategy, with strong emphasis on building tools, frameworks, and platforms that directly impact developer velocity.
What you will do
Lead the Platform Engineering (Developer productivity) team, setting up the vision and execution roadmap.Design and build internal tools / platforms that optimize CI / CD, testing frameworks, and infrastructure automation.Drive adoption of cloud-native solutions (Kubernetes, AWS, ephemeral environments, service monitoring tools).Partner with engineering leaders to align developer experience initiatives with org-wide goals & OKRs.Champion best practices around continuous delivery, developer efficiency, and operational excellence.Evangelize team’s work internally (workshops, training, cross-team adoption) and externally (conferences, blogs, OSS).Mentor engineers, foster innovation, and build a culture of experimentation & learning.What you will need
7+ years in software engineering with at least 2 years in platform / dev productivity roles.Strong expertise in Kubernetes, AWS, CI / CD pipelines, Spinnaker / Jenkins / ArgoCD, IaC.Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, dynamic test selection, code quality gates.Strong coding skills in Go, Python, or Java (Go preferred for tooling / frameworks).Experience designing ephemeral environments, monitoring / observability tools.Proven track record of leading small teams, mentoring engineers, and driving large-scale initiatives.A background in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) or any open-source software (OSS) contributions would be a huge plus. Alternatively, having built something really cool to solve a difficult pain point for engineers or anything that helped ship things faster for the company or the OSS community would also be great.Strong communication and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.Life at slice
