The CEO is the highest-ranking executive, responsible for the overall success and strategic direction of the company within the Roads, Highways, Bridges, and Civil Infrastructure sectors. This leader is accountable for setting the corporate vision, driving profitable growth, ensuring financial health, maintaining operational excellence, and fostering a culture of safety and integrity.
Key Responsibilities :
I. Vision, Strategy, and Market Leadership
- Strategic Planning : Define and articulate the long-term strategic plan, focusing on growth, market share capture, and diversification within the roads, expressways, and heavy civil infrastructure segments.
- Commercial Growth : Lead high-stakes business development, securing major contracts (e.g., PPP, BOT, Hybrid Annuity, EPC) with government authorities and private developers. Drive top-line revenue and profitability.
- Innovation & Technology : Champion the adoption of advanced construction methodologies, materials science, and digital tools (BIM, geospatial technologies) to improve project efficiency and quality in road and bridge construction.
- Risk Management : Establish and monitor robust enterprise-wide risk management frameworks to address financial, contractual, regulatory, and technical risks specific to long-term infrastructure concessions.
II. Financial Performance and Governance
P&L Accountability : Hold full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for the company. Direct financial strategy to optimize working capital, control costs, and maximize margins on capital projects.Capital Management : Oversee treasury functions, project finance, debt structuring, and capital expenditure (CapEx) planning for key machinery and plant assets (e.g., asphalt plants, crushers).Board & Investor Relations : Serve as the principal communication bridge between the Executive Team and the Board of Directors / Investors, ensuring transparency and alignment on corporate performance and strategic direction.III. Operational Excellence and Project Delivery
HSE Leadership : Instill a non-negotiable Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture across all operational sites, ensuring compliance with all local and international safety standards for highway construction and heavy civil works.Execution Oversight : Provide executive guidance to the Head of Construction / COO, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest quality standards, on schedule, and within budget, with optimal utilization of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM).Quality Assurance : Mandate rigorous quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures, particularly regarding pavement technology, structural concrete, and bridge component fabrication.IV. Stakeholder Management and Culture
Government Relations : Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with top-level government clients, regulatory bodies, and highway authorities to secure approvals, manage contractual variations, and resolve disputes.Executive Talent : Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing executive leadership team (CFO, COO, Heads of Commercial, Engineering, and Construction), setting clear performance metrics and accountability.Corporate Image : Serve as the company's public face, enhancing its reputation for reliability, quality, and ethical practice within the civil infrastructure sector.Required Qualifications and Skills :
Education : Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field is preferred. An MBA or advanced degree in Finance / Management is typically required.
Experience : Minimum 20+ years of progressive executive experience in the Civil Construction or Infrastructure industry, with extensive experience in managing large-scale roads, highways, and bridge projects. At least 8-10 years in a CEO, COO, or Managing Director role.
Industry Knowledge : Authoritative knowledge of contract models, project finance, regulatory frameworks, and complex construction methodologies specific to road and heavy civil infrastructure.
Leadership : Proven track record of strategic planning, P&L management, successful capital project delivery, and leading diverse, multi-functional teams.
