Position Summary :
This Position is based in Mumbai and will independently manage the entire grant accounting and donor reporting function while supporting the Finance Manager for expense accounting and management.
The Position directly reports to the Chief Financial Officer based in Mumbai. The incumbent will also work closely with the Lead Financial Controller to manage the Finance function productively and efficiently and will co-lead a team of seven finance professionals across Mumbai and Pune.
The Position requires close coordination with :
- Akanksha’s Donor relations team to manage donor budgets, reporting, audits and other requirements to ensure timely and seamless flow of donor information between the two functions
- HR for salary processing, though the monthly process is and will continue to be managed by the Finance manager
- IT to ensure tech integration and upgradation in the Finance function.
The Finance team at Akanksha uses Netsuite (NS) ERP for its accounting needs and an in-house developed Expense Management system for recording staff reimbursements and other purchase transactions. The NS system is also being integrated with a donor management system to meet data and reporting requirements of both team
With other programs and support teams for quarterly expense reporting and budget monitoring. This will be jointly with the Finance managerSpecific Responsibilities will include :
Independently manage all donor related budgeting, reporting, audits and MISSupport the Finance Manager to ensure accurate accounting of expenses and income reflecting a true and correct picture of the finances of the organization. This will entail overseeing :○ Accurate accounting of payments and receipts including grants and donations under appropriate cost centres / donor codes
○ Generation of quarterly MIS reports on budget and grant utilizations
○ Interaction with budget heads to analyse and monitor trends of actual spends vs budgets
○ Compliance with Finance and other internal policies and procedures and
○ Timely payment of all statutory dues and adherence to related compliances
Facilitate and manage internal and statutory auditsProactively support the review of systems and processes for enhanced productivity and efficiencySupport the Lead Financial Controller in meeting all statutory and legal compliances in a timely mannerWhat you need for this role :
7–10 years work experience in accounting and finance including payment processing, grant accounting, budgeting, financial monitoring and reporting, preferably in the ‘not for profit’ sectorKnowledge and expertise with regard to statutory compliances like TDS, GST, EPF etc.Strong understanding of internal controls and processes necessary to run a large finance operation efficiently and effectivelyAbility to support the CFO and Lead Financial Controller in running the Finance operation in a highly professional manner setting new standards of excellenceStrong engagement, coordination and interpersonal skills and confidence to interact with senior leadershipCapability to motivate, mentor and lead a team of young professionalsGood written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi. Knowledge of Marathi would be an added advantageQualification :
