About the Role :
Product Owner (PO) is a member of the extended Technical Product Management team and crucial member of the Agile Team. PO owns the Team / Sprint backlog representing the single source of truth and is the single point of contact to the Dev team and Customer team for user story details. PO is responsible for defining and refining user stories and prioritizing the Agile Team backlog to streamline execution of product (program) priorities while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of features for the team.
In this capacity the PO remains highly available to the Dev teams during each iteration (sprint) in order to answer real time questions and provide clarity to user stories. PO also drives user story refinement activities ensuring Team backlog contains 2 iterations worth of 'ready' work for Dev team. These two functions are critical to enabling Dev teams to improve and maintain high velocity / productivity in iteration (sprint) execution. For this reason, a PO supports a single Agile (Scrum) Team up to a maximum of 2 teams.
PO also has a significant role in quality control and is the only team member empowered to accept stories as done, ensuring the acceptance criteria has been met. This role has significant relationships and responsibilities outside their specific Agile team, including working with Technical Product Management, who is responsible for the Product (Program / Portfolio / Platform) Backlog, to prepare for the Program Increment (PI) Planning meeting (Big Room Planning).
What You will Do :
Business and Technical Execution :
Develop deep understanding of customer / user experience at a tactical and transactional level
Build and maintain Agile (Scrum / Sprint) team backlog
Write and refine user stories and requirements including acceptance criteria and tests
Review and prioritize team backlog for iteration planning
Coordinate and resolve dependencies with other Product Owners, domain POCs, UI / UX
Review and assess enabler work and collaborate with System Architects
Accept completed user stories, ensuring they meet the Definition of Done
Serve as single point of contact for technical and customer / user teams during sprints
Maintain 2 sprints of ready work via ongoing story elaboration
Participate in demos, retrospectives, and Inspect & Adapt workshops
Manage and groom testable, production-quality user stories
Support PI planning and PI system demo execution
Drive improvement stories to increase velocity and quality
Run PO sync meetings in larger scaled ARTs
Support Technical Product Manager with product vision and roadmap
Collaborate with Scrum Master to prioritize the Scrum backlog to maximize throughput of a sprint.
Create and review L3 diagrams, Swaggers, API documentation for system integrations.
Drive Low Level Design / Domain Level Design for platform features
Review Test Cases and support testing teams during domain / system and night of release
Conduct Platform Level Demos with Stakeholders
Participate and Drive, Release Activities during Night / Day of Release
Relationship & People, Professional Development :
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and customers / users
Work collaboratively across technical and teams
Develop Platform specific training material / user manuals and educate stakeholders
Develop Agile training material and educate stakeholders
Contribute to Product Owner Community of Practice (COP) and Scrum Master Community of Practice
What You will Bring :
Bachelor's Degree (required)
4+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Owner, Business Analyst, System Analyst, or similar roles in Agile software development
Strong technical writing and requirements elicitation skills
Experience with Agile tools and methodologies
Experience with LucidChart, PlantUML, Visio, Jira, Confluence
Ability to clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with writing and elaborating Features and User Stories
Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making
Scrum Product Owner certification (CSPO) – preferred
Must Have Skills :
Relevant Product Management, Product Owner, Business Analyst, and System Analyst or Architecture / Software Engineer experience in an agile software product development environment.
Nice To Have :
Experience with JSON, API Swaggers and L1 / L2 / L3 diagrams
