About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Database SME (Oracle + MongoDB / MariaDB) with deep expertise in administering mission-critical, high-volume, distributed database environments—ideally in the telecom domain. This role requires mastery of SQL / NoSQL systems, performance tuning, automation, and building highly available architectures across hybrid or cloud-native infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Optimization

Administer Oracle DBA , MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and AWS RDS environments.

Handle installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and version migration.

Optimize performance including slow queries, indexing, sharding, replication tuning, and resource usage.

High Availability & Recovery

Set up and manage clustering, replication, failover, multi-region DR , and backups.

Ensure HA using Oracle RAC, MongoDB ReplicaSets, MariaDB Galera clusters, etc.

Automation & DevOps

Implement schema versioning automation using Liquibase .

Deploy and manage DB workloads in Docker / Kubernetes .

Automate operations through Ansible, Terraform, and CI / CD pipelines .

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

Monitor using New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch , and APM tools.

Troubleshoot replication failures, bottlenecks, memory issues, IOPS constraints, connection pool saturation, etc.

Distributed Systems Integration

Integrate DB systems with Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ, ETCD, Elastic Cache .

Work in real-time, high-throughput systems typical in telecom domains.

Security & Compliance

Implement RBAC, encryption, auditing, TLS certificates, password rotation, compliance controls.

Operational Support

Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for critical incidents.

Create documentation, dashboards, SOPs, and architecture diagrams.

Requirements

10+ years of expertise in database engineering and administration.

Deep experience with Oracle DBA (mandatory) + MongoDB or MariaDB (mandatory).

Strong understanding of SQL, NoSQL, replication, and performance tuning.

Strong Linux systems expertise.

Proficiency in scripting languages : Shell, Python .

Experience with CI / CD , containerized databases, and infra automation.

Excellent communication and troubleshooting abilities.

Nice to Have

Experience with Elastic Stack , Kafka pipelines, or internal tooling.

Cloud certifications (AWS / Azure / GCP).

Experience building automated database management tools.
