World Wide Technology Holding Co, LLC. (WWT) has an opportunity available for a Field Engineer (Remote Contract) role at Chennai.
Position : Data Center Field Technician
Location : Chennai (Remote)
Duration : 12+ Months Contract
Responsibilities :
- Install and secure networking devices, including rack-mounted servers.
- Act as on-site lead and main project contact.
- Follow documentation to stage devices as specified.
- Coordinate with Project Management for onsite tasks.
- Train field technicians on installation standards and procedures.
- Perform DOA checks and initial device testing.
- Conduct post-installation quality assurance.
- Integrate infrastructure using slotting matrices and cabling diagrams.
- Configure console access for remote engineering support.
- Unbox, inspect, rack, and mount equipment.
- Confirm equipment model and quantity per order / BOM.
- Document accessory / module quantities.
- Install modules / SFPs as per build and cabling documents.
- Complete physical install and cabling per plans.
- Patch network cables and label power cords when needed.
- Connect and power devices according to mapping, reporting issues if found.
- Validate connectivity and complete QA checklist.
Qualifications :
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, collaboration, and communication skills.Proficient in structured cabling, fiber optic connectors, networking standards, and core datacenter technologies.At least 3 years’ experience in networking, infrastructure support, or related areas.Hands-on network device and server installation and troubleshooting abilities.CCNA / CompTIA Network+ and A+ certification or equivalent preferred.Bachelor’s in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant experience preferred.Demonstrated datacenter and network implementation experience.Able to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements.Skilled in interpreting documentation and resolving problems.This hybrid role requires customer site travel.
