About The Role
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an Information Management Project Lead at BP Energy, based at our Technology Centre in Bengaluru. This role is integral to our Applied Sciences & Technology division, which comprises a team of over 500 scientists, engineers, and technologists dedicated to pioneering innovative solutions across various sectors including internal combustion engines, hybrids, electric vehicles, industrial applications, data centers, and space technologies. The successful candidate will spearhead initiatives to enhance knowledge and information management practices, ensuring that our scientific and technological insights are accessible, well-organized, and aligned with corporate objectives. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, digital IT partners, and senior management to drive digital transformation, optimize document and data governance, and support bp&aposs strategic goals of innovation and operational excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor&aposs degree or higher in information management, library / information science, or an equivalent professional experience. Demonstrated expertise in project and program management is essential, with a proven track record of delivering complex change projects, process improvements, and digital transformation initiatives related to information and knowledge management. Strong stakeholder influencing skills across multiple global locations and disciplines are required, along with a comprehensive understanding of enterprise content management, records management, taxonomy development, metadata management, and content workflows. Familiarity with Microsoft environments such as SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, as well as emerging AI tools like large language models (LLMs) such as Microsoft CoPilot, will be advantageous. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a proactive approach to driving adoption of best practices in information governance and lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include developing and executing an enterprise-wide information management strategy that aligns with BP&aposs broader standards and business objectives. The role involves creating and maintaining effective document management environments to facilitate efficient search and discovery, establishing governance frameworks, and ensuring compliance with information management standards. The candidate will lead initiatives to design and implement robust information architecture, including taxonomy and metadata schemas, to improve data accessibility and usability. They will oversee the implementation of document lifecycle practices, workflow automation, and digital tools to enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, the role requires managing projects related to digital transformation, conducting training sessions, and driving change management activities to foster a culture of effective information use. Measuring the impact of these initiatives through performance metrics, user feedback, and surveys will also be a key aspect of the role. The Project Lead will be responsible for budget management, resource allocation, and ensuring timely delivery of projects within scope and budget constraints.
