About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer who understands IKEA ways of working—code of conduct, product requirements, testing, packaging, traceability, and portal workflows—and can translate them into daily shop-floor routines and reliable, scalable controls. You’ll own incoming-to-dispatch quality, supplier CARs, and audit readiness while partnering with Production, Merchandising, and Compliance to keep first-time-right above target.
What you’ll do
- IKEA Compliance & Systems
- Operate confidently within IKEA supplier / quality portals (e.G., documentation uploads, CAR / NC closure tracking, action plans, test reports, packaging data).
- Embed IKEA requirements (e.G., IWAY / Code of Conduct, product / material / test / packaging standards such as IOS-MAT / IOS-PRG / IOS-TM / packaging specs) into SOPs and work instructions.
- Prepare, host, and close actions from IKEA audits, technical visits, and social / compliance audits with clear CAPAs and evidence trails.
- End-to-End Quality Control
- Build and enforce checkpoints across dyeing, handloom / tuft, washing, shearing, latexing, finishing, and packing;
- maintain AQL sampling plans;
drive in-process patrolaudits.
Set defect taxonomies (shade, dimension, weave density, pile uniformity, odor / chemical, label / pack), and reduce DPMO through targeted kaizens.Testing & DocumentationCoordinate third-party tests (SGS / Intertek / BV) and internal tests (colorfastness, rubbing, flammability where applicable, dimensional stability, fiber / chemical limits).Maintain master files : risk assessments, test plans & frequencies, control plans, SOPs, visual standards, trims & labeling specs, packaging specs and ISTA where required.CAPA & Continuous ImprovementLead 8D / 5-Why / RCA for claims, audit NCs, and internal rejects;verify effectiveness with before / after data.
Train supervisors / QA inspectors on IKEA-specific requirements;run layered process audits and Gemba walks.
Traceability & DataEnsure batch-level traceability (yarn → loom → lot → finishing → carton → invoice) and complete documentation in ERP;publish weekly quality dashboards.
What you’ll need
4–8 years in Quality for home textiles / floor coverings / furniture hardlines;rugs / carpets experienceis a strong plus.
Proven experience with IKEA systems and ways of working (audits, portals, documentation, and standard interpretations).Working knowledge of AQL , RCA / 8D, FMEA / control plans, packaging validation, and third-party lab coordination.Comfortable with ERP / Excel / Sheets;able to build checklists, trackers, and dashboards.
Strong communication with buyers / liaison offices and internal teams;crisp documentation skills.
Nice to have
Exposure to chemical compliance programs (e.G., restricted substances / risk-based testing), fiber ID, and performance testing for rugs.Lean / Kaizen certifications, ISO 9001 knowledge, or internal auditor background.Key KPIs
