We are seeking a motivated and experienced Team Lead - Infection Control Nurse (ICN) to support Americares India’s Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) strengthening efforts across 41 government healthcare facilities in Goa. This role will provide leadership and technical guidance to a team of 8 ICNs, ensure effective supervision, quality data consolidation, stakeholder coordination, as well as capacity building of both project and hospital staff. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in nursing and infection control, prior supervisory experience, and the ability to engage with government stakeholders to drive AMS improvements at scale. What will you do in this role (Roles and Responsibilities)
Provide day-to-day supervision, mentoring, and guidance on best practices in IPC to both - project ICN team & hospital staff, across government facilities
Review, validate, and consolidate IPC-related data and surveillance reports submitted by the project ICN team to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality
Facilitate gap analysis exercises and monitor progress on facility-specific action plans
Plan and deliver IPC training sessions for doctors, ICNs, linked nurses, other healthcare and support staff
Contribute to development of IPC guidelines and support their consistent implementation at facility level
Guide ICNs in conducting compliance checks on care bundles, hand hygiene and biomedical waste policy
Guide ICNs in using surveillance tools for monitoring CAUTI, CLABSI, VAP, SSI, and AMR trends.
Ensure high-quality reporting of IPC indicators to project leadership, government stakeholders and donors
Support documentation on program progress, challenges, and best practices
Represent the ICN team in technical meetings, program reviews, and discussions with government and technical partners
Conduct regular performance appraisals and provide structured feedback to the team of project ICNs to build capacity and accountability
Work closely with clinical pharmacists, doctors, and hospital administration to integrate AMS and infection prevention & control efforts
Undertake other IPC-related tasks assigned by the Project Lead / Organisation
We are looking for someone who has :
B.Sc. / M.Sc. Nursing (preferred with specialization or certification in Infection Control) from a recognized institution
Minimum 5 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in hospital infection control and hospital quality
Prior experience supervising teams or leading program implementation
Exposure to public health programs

Excellent analytical skills : ability to review and interpret clinical and programmatic data

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Prior exposure to AMR surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship, and hospital accreditation processes
Experience in program management or system strengthening in healthcare settings
Ability to adapt and problem-solve in resource-constrained health systems
