Production and Sourcing Engineer

Job Summary :

The Production and Sourcing Engineer will be responsible for coordinating production activities, developing vendor networks, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of components and materials. The role requires strong technical understanding to read and interpret engineering drawings, prepare Bills of Materials (BOM), and support continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities :

Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturing feasibility.

Prepare and maintain detailed

Bills of Materials (BOM)

for all projects and assemblies.

Identify, evaluate, and develop

suppliers

for mechanical, electrical, and fabricated components.

Negotiate pricing, lead times, and payment terms with suppliers to achieve

cost reduction

and timely delivery.

Coordinate with production and design teams to ensure material availability as per project timelines.

Monitor and track production schedules, ensuring adherence to quality and delivery targets.

Conduct supplier performance reviews focusing on quality, delivery, and cost metrics.

Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including purchase orders, supplier quotations, and inspection reports.

Support new vendor development and localization of imported components where feasible.

Implement continuous improvement initiatives in sourcing and production processes to optimize efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills :

Bachelor’s Degree in

Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering

or related field.

2–5 years of experience in

production, sourcing, or supply chain

within a manufacturing environment.

Strong ability to

read and interpret engineering drawings

and technical documentation.

Experience in

cost analysis , vendor negotiation, and supplier management.

Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and standard procurement documentation.

Good understanding of machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.

Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
