Software Engineering Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Ford Pro is looking for Software Engineering Manager that embrace Agile-eXtreme Programming principles to deliver innovative software products for Ford Motor Company and our commercial customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll do...

Technical Leadership :

Architectural Design & Review : Lead the design and architectural discussions for new features and systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.

Hands-on Development : Spend a significant portion of your time (e.g.,4050%) actively contributing to the codebase, writing high-quality, production-ready code, conducting proofs-of-concept, and tackling complex technical challenges alongside your team.

Technical Strategy : Drive the technical roadmap for your team's area, identifying opportunities for technological improvement, adoption of new tools / frameworks, and reduction of technical debt.

Problem Solving : Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues, providing guidance and expertise to resolve critical bugs and performance bottlenecks.

Quality Assurance : Champion robust testing methodologies, automation, and continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI / CD) practices to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Ensure engineering excellence (e.g. best practices and quality) is achieved within product group. Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Collaborate with other Product Line Anchors to reduce complexity across the portfolio, enhance interoperability between services, and make key design decisions.

Provide thought leadership for the development, structure, technology, and tools used within Ford Pro.

Innovate and operate with an iterative, agile and user-centric perspective.

Clearly communicate technology strategy and vision to team members and internal and external stakeholders.

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of experienced software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and technical excellence, particularly in the context of AI.

Guide teams in the effective and responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., AI coding assistants).

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

You'll have...

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Experience 10+ years with progressive responsibilities in Software Engineering, Architecture and Agile Framework.
• Must be able to operationalize and assist teams with abstract technology concepts.
• Strong demonstrated competencies on cloud and digital platforms.
• Strong communication, collaborative, and influencing skills.
• Proven ability to work closely with senior leadership.
• Strong personal presence and capabilities to resolve technical concerns.
• Experience with cloud services and platform knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to drive development of highly technical technology services and capabilities.
• Experience with Lean methodology & eXtreme Programming.
• Demonstrated understanding and ability to drive API economy and solutions

for highly available consumer ready Internet properties and technical platforms.

Experience collaborating with engineers, designers, and product owners.
