About the Company
The Catalyst Development & Scale-Up In charge will lead the research, development, optimization, and scale-up of catalyst systems used in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. This role bridges laboratory innovation with plant-level implementation, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and compliant production of high-quality intermediates and APIs. The position requires strong expertise in catalysis chemistry, process knowledge, scale-up methodologies and precious metal inventory management.

The Catalyst Development & Scale-Up In charge will lead the research, development, optimization, and scale-up of catalyst systems used in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Catalyst Research & Development
- Design, synthesize, and optimize heterogeneous and / or homogeneous catalysts for pharmaceutical reactions. Particularly, Pd, Pt, Ru, Rh on supports like activated carbon, alumina and other supports.
- Very good fundamental understanding on catalysis, particularly pharma catalysts and good organic chemistry to understand the reaction mechanisms.
- Conduct lab-scale experiments to evaluate catalyst activity, selectivity, stability, and recyclability.
- Perform mechanistic studies to understand reaction pathways and catalyst behavior.
- Screen novel catalytic systems for yield improvement, loss of precious metal, process efficiency, and sustainability.
Process Scale-Up
Translate lab-scale catalytic processes into pilot and commercial-scale operations.Develop scale-up protocols considering heat / mass transfer, reactor design, and safety requirements.Optimize reaction conditions for throughput, cost reduction, and waste minimization.Collaborate with process engineers to modify and adapt equipment for scale-up.Technical Documentation & Compliance
Prepare process development reports, scale-up protocols, and technical transfer documents.Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, and environmental regulations.Maintain detailed experimental records and batch manufacturing instructions.Support regulatory filings by providing technical data and process descriptions.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with R&D chemists, analytical teams, production, and quality control.Liaise with procurement and vendors for catalyst raw materials and equipment.Provide technical training to production teams on catalyst handling and process parameters.Qualifications
Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field, with specialization in catalysis or process chemistry.7+ years of experience in catalyst development, preferably in a pharmaceutical or fine chemical manufacturing environment.Proven track record of taking catalytic processes from lab concept to commercial scale.Strong understanding of chemical kinetics, reactor design, and process safety.Familiarity with GMP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical manufacturing.Required Skills
Deep knowledge of homogeneous / heterogeneous catalysis, metal complexes, and enzyme catalysis.Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting process deviations.Proficiency in analytical techniques (GC, HPLC, ICP-MS, XRD, BET surface analysis, etc.).Ability to lead cross-functional technical teams.Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.Preferred Skills
Experience in a lab and pilot plant environment with periodic visits to production facilities.Exposure to chemicals and equipment; adherence to strict safety protocols required.```
