Role Overview
The Quality Manager is responsible for safeguarding product quality across all stages of production by controlling three core pillars- Information , Raw Material , and Manpower . This role ensures that every style meets defined quality standards before, during, and after production.
The Quality Manager works closely with sampling, R&D, production, and QC teams to prevent defects, train manpower, and ensure strict adherence to SOPs and inspection protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Information Management
- Conduct in-depth style studies with the sampling department to identify critical quality areas before production.
- Oversee pattern quality and fit to ensure accuracy before bulk production.
- Collaborate with R&D and sampling teams to track buyer comments and integrate them into production preparation.
- Drive zero-point control : ensuring style understanding and potential risk areas are addressed at the sampling stage to prevent failures in bulk production.
- Ensure timely PPM (Pre-Production Meetings) with production teams to communicate quality checkpoints and handling protocols for each style.
2. Raw Material Quality Control
Track and review fabric inspection reports and ensure compliance with quality standards.Address fabric issues such as high shrinkage or defects by recommending pattern adjustments, washes, or alternative solutions.Monitor accessories (brooches, laces, marking tools, etc.) for quality compliance before issuance to production.Coordinate with stores to ensure only approved materials are released for production.3. Manpower Training & QC Oversight
Assess the performance and capability of QCs across departments (inline, finishing, packing, layering, recutting, panel checking).Provide training and guidance to QCs, tailors, checkers, and other key manpower to improve quality standards.Monitor QC accountability to ensure all inspection steps are completed and no checkpoints are skipped.Maintain oversight of both in-house QCs and outhouse QCs at job worker units.4. Quality Compliance & Problem-Solving
Implement preventive measures to avoid major quality issues.Address quality-related problems immediately, identify root causes, and create solutions to prevent recurrence.Ensure consistent monitoring of multiple styles running across different production stages simultaneously.5. Fabric & Style Handling Protocols
Develop and enforce handling procedures based on fabric characteristics (e.g., needle size, machine speed, glove use for satin to prevent stains).Prepare teams for special handling requirements of critical styles before production begins.Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 7–10 years of quality management experience in the garment / textile industry.Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern-making, and quality control processes, especially for Women&aposs high fashion dresses in fabrics such as Chiffon and Satin.Experience managing QC teams and implementing SOPs.Analytical and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.Strong leadership, training, and team-coordination skills.Excel and Google Sheets.Key Competencies
