About The Role :

We are looking for a seasoned editorial professional to lead our news desk, focusing on coverage of US news with a focus on science, environment and feature stories. This role involves overseeing a dynamic team of writers, editors, and social media executives to deliver timely, engaging, and high-quality news content. The ideal candidate will have an interest in science, general awareness of the US news landscape, outstanding editorial judgment, and a background in managing breaking news workflows.

Key Responsibilities :

• Lead and manage the editorial team to cover stories on science, environment, and feature stories in a timely fashion.
• Research and source daily news articles on science, environment, and feature stories.
• Identify compelling story angles and headlines that amplify the performance of the page.
• Assign, review, and edit stories while ensuring clarity, accuracy, and speed.
• Track performance and interpret data to craft a strategy that maximizes the page's performance.
• Fact-check sources and cite credible scientific journals or institutions.
• Simplify scientific concepts for the average American reader while maintaining factual accuracy.
• Mentor team members and help maintain a high standard of editorial quality.
