We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant with strong Xero experience to support our finance operations. This role is ideal for someone with bookkeeping or accounts assistant background who is confident in managing day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining compliance with UK accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoice Management : Record, process, and save purchase invoices in Xero, ensuring accurate correlation with purchase orders.
- VAT Return Preparation : Assist with VAT calculations, prepare supporting documentation, and liaise with accountants to ensure timely and compliant submissions.
- Accountants’ Liaison : Provide management accounts support and answer queries raised by external accountants.
- Expense Management : Organize, review, and process expense claims in Xero; manage reimbursements for employees.
- Payments : Prepare and process supplier payments by raising requests in Xero for authorization by bank signatories.
- Financial Support : Provide accountants with all required supporting documentation, including bank statements and transaction details.
- Bank Reconciliation : Regularly reconcile company bank accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Xero Setup & Maintenance : Create and manage accounts in Xero, ensuring accurate categorization and reporting.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant, or Finance Officer .Strong knowledge of Xero Accounting Software (essential).Understanding of UK VAT processes and compliance .Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong communication skills for liaising with accountants and internal teams.AAT qualification (preferred but not essential).
