Senior Manager Formulation IP

We are partnering with a global leader in Pharma Company to identify Sr. Manager - Intellectual Property. The position will report to Head - IP.

Location : Hyderabad / Mumbai

The position will work on a wide variety of Intellectual Property matters within the Intellectual Property Department and CFT’s at Lotus including Product Clearance, Patent Filing & Prosecution, Patent Litigation, and Licensing / Due Diligence, TM clearance and registering for EU, US and APAC region. The incumbent Should lead a team in a dynamic environment and deliver results can grow along with fast paced work environment. This position will closely work with Portfolio, R&D scientists, Regulatory Affairs etc. The role is not to manage files. The role is to turn IP into strategy, and strategy into impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and manage the growing IP portfolio of the Company

Enforce IP processes in the Organization to ensure the optimal and timely protection of intellectual property as well as protecting third-party partner interests

Work closely with Global IP Head, Research and Development and Portfolio teams to :

Identify products (Gx and 505(b)(2)) to be introduced into the development grid

Devise and manage the most effective product development strategy for the portfolio

Identify patentable inventions and provide guidance regarding the patentability of inventions under review

Draft patents, freedom to operate reports, infringement and validity analysis, risk assessment and mitigation strategies

File and prosecute inventive solutions to build significant wealth of intellectual property

Monitor and evaluate third party scientific and patent publications

Provide IP-related inputs to support legal agreements and negotiations

Partner with other legal and business functions to provide strategic advice and strategy in connection with strategic M&A transactions, licensing agreements, research collaborations, adverse proceedings, and litigation activities

Manage patent, trademark, copyright and related issues

Maintain appropriate record architecture and content of the Company’s inventions, know-how, trade secrets and registered intellectual property

Educate the management and scientists in the Organization on the current best practices for the protection of inventions and intellectual property

Lead, empower and coach a team of IP professionals

Prepare and manage the budget of the function

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

PhD or a Post-graduate in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Sciences or Pharmaceutical Sciences

Desirable to have an additional specialization in Intellectual Property

Work experience of at least 13+ years in a reputable Global Pharmaceutical company with team handling skills.

Experience in product IP clearances, patent drafting and prosecution, and ancillary areas in a pharmaceutical organization. Litigation, litigation support, and licensing experience are most desired

Well organized, detail-oriented and a team-player capable of working in a deadline dictated environment

Experience with regulatory exclusivity and interplay with IP exclusiveness

Fluency in English, both written and spoken
