Job Overview
The Primary English Teacher plays a vital role in shaping the language foundation and communication skills of students in the primary section. The teacher is expected to deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the Cambridge / IGCSE curriculum , using modern and interactive pedagogical strategies. The position requires passion for teaching, creativity, and commitment to nurturing confident, articulate, and independent learners.
The teacher will focus on developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through engaging classroom activities, while also encouraging appreciation for literature and creative expression.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured and engaging English lessons following the Cambridge Primary / IGCSE framework.
- Teach core areas of English — Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Creative Writing, and Communication Skills.
- Incorporate storytelling, drama, role play, audio-visual aids, and interactive learning methods to make lessons interesting.
- Integrate cross-curricular themes and activities to make learning more meaningful and holistic.
- Encourage critical thinking, curiosity, and self-expression among students.
- Lesson Planning & Curriculum Development
- Design lesson plans and schemes of work aligned with school academic goals and IGCSE standards.
- Participate in collaborative planning sessions with subject coordinators and peers.
- Contribute ideas for improving English teaching methodologies, reading programs, and literary initiatives.
- Develop resources, worksheets, and assessments tailored to students' learning levels.
- Classroom Management
- Create a safe, respectful, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Establish clear behavior expectations and maintain discipline using positive reinforcement.
- Motivate students to participate actively and express themselves confidently.
- Manage class routines effectively to maximize learning time.
- Student Assessment & Evaluation
- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments to monitor students' learning progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and guide them for improvement.
- Prepare report cards, progress notes, and participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to share updates.
- Enrichment & Co-Curricular Activities
- Organize and guide students in English-related competitions and events such as elocution, debate, poetry recitation, storytelling, spelling bee, and creative writing contests.
- Encourage reading habits through library sessions, book reviews, and reading clubs.
- Support and participate in annual functions, assemblies, and school celebrations.
- Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work closely with other teachers and coordinators to maintain consistency and quality in academic delivery.
- Attend school meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance professional knowledge.
- Contribute to school improvement initiatives and community-building activities.
- Share best practices and mentor new teachers if required.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain student attendance and academic records as per school norms.
- Ensure timely submission of lesson plans, exam papers, and reports.
- Assist in admission activities, student orientation, and open house sessions when required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in English / Education (B.Ed. is mandatory).Minimum 2–4 years of teaching experience in a Cambridge / IGCSE / International curriculum school preferred.Excellent command of written and spoken English.Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.Familiarity with digital learning tools and blended learning environmentsSkills : english,communication,learning,teaching
