Lead Functional Consultant - D 365

Job descriptionPlan and lead structured discovery workshops with key stakeholders including Finance Directors, Controllers, Project Leads, and Finance Operations teams. Challenge business assumptions, identify core pain points, and guide discussions toward maximizing out-of-the-box D365 capabilities. Perform detailed fit-gap analysis and drive functional decisions to minimize unnecessary customizations. Own the creation of functional specifications, process flows, test scenarios, and the configuration strategy. Collaborate with technical teams, data leads, and integration partners to ensure alignment between design and delivery. Support Conference Room Pilots (CRPs), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), training, cutover activities, and go-live readiness. Act as the functional SME and single point of contact for all Finance and PMA solution decisions. Present solution trade-offs and impact assessments to business and IT leadership clearly and effectively. Mentor and guide functional consultants, review deliverables, and ensure adherence to the overall solution blueprint and delivery timelines. Ensure the solution supports financial reporting, statutory compliance, project performance KPIs, and audit workflows. Provide inputs for Management Reporter, Power BI dashboards, and other financial / regulatory reports. 10–12 years of experience as a core finance consultant in Microsoft Dynamics AX (2009 / 2012) and D365 F&O. Minimum 3–4 full-cycle implementations in D365 Finance and PMA. Educational background in finance (B.Com, M.Com, or Chartered Accountant) with strong understanding of accounting and financial processes. Finance Modules : GL, AR / AP, Fixed Assets, Cash & Bank, Financial Dimensions, Period Close, Budgeting, Consolidation, and key financial operations. PMA Modules : Project setup, contracts, WBS, cost tracking, milestone billing, revenue recognition, and forecasting. Accounting Standards : Strong grasp of IFRS, GAAP, and various project billing models (T&M, fixed fee, milestone-based). Localization & Rollouts : Experience with multi-entity rollouts, financial consolidation, and country-specific localization needs. Strong documentation and stakeholder communication abilities. Ability to lead functional workstreams and influence solution design. Hands-on with Power BI, advanced Excel, Azure DevOps, LCS, and Excel-based integrations. Experience working in project-centric industries such as professional services is preferred.
