We are seeking an experienced Lead - 3D Generalist to guide and inspire our art team in the creation of visually stunning assets for Son of Thanjai . The ideal candidate will be a versatile artist with a strong command of 3D production workflows, from sculpting and modeling to texturing, lighting, and rendering, and will play a pivotal role in shaping the project’s visual identity. This role combines creative direction, technical expertise, and mentorship to ensure the highest standards of artistic quality across all 3D assets.
What You’ll Do :
Creative Leadership and Direction
- Define and uphold the visual standards for 3D assets across characters, environments, and props.
- Collaborate with the Art Director to establish and maintain a cohesive art style throughout the project.
- Review and provide feedback on team deliverables to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with the creative vision.
3D Asset Creation
Lead by example through hands-on creation of high-quality 3D assets, including detailed sculpts, models, textures, and materials.Ensure assets meet technical and artistic requirements for real-time implementation in Unreal Engine 5.Guide the development of optimized, game-ready models that balance visual fidelity with performance efficiency.Technical Oversight and Optimization
Oversee the integration of assets into the engine, troubleshooting issues related to shading, lighting, or performance.Work closely with technical artists and programmers to refine pipelines and improve production efficiency.Ensure the art team adheres to best practices in topology, UVs, and material setups.Lighting and Rendering
Supervise lighting setups and ensure visual consistency across environments and cinematics.Direct rendering workflows to achieve high-quality visuals that support the mood and storytelling of the game.Mentorship and Team Development
Mentor junior and mid-level artists, fostering growth in both artistic and technical skills.Provide structured feedback and support a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.Coordinate cross-departmental communication between art, design, and animation teams.Pipeline and Workflow Management
Collaborate in refining and maintaining efficient production pipelines.Evaluate and implement tools and technologies to enhance productivity and quality.Contribute to scheduling, task prioritization, and ensuring project milestones are met.You’d Be a Great Fit If You :
Have 5+ years of experience in 3D art production, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.Demonstrate mastery of ZBrush, Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender, along with Substance Painter / Designer.Possess a strong understanding of lighting, texturing, and rendering techniques in real-time and pre-rendered contexts.Have proven experience working with Unreal Engine 5, including material and lighting systems.Excel at both artistic and technical problem-solving, maintaining high quality under production constraints.Exhibit excellent leadership, communication, and mentorship skills.Are deeply passionate about story-driven games and committed to delivering memorable visual experiences.
