Salary : $100k – $115k + superannuation
Position Overview
The HR Business Partner is responsible for providing strategic and operational HR support to the business, ensuring compliance with legislation and alignment with organisational goals. Working closely with management and employees, this role oversees all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to workforce planning, industrial relations, and compliance.
The HR Business Partner will play a key role in supporting a workforce of approximately 100 staff within a construction contracting environment, ensuring best practice HR processes that meet both operational and employee needs.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end recruitment, including advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and selection.
Coordinate visa sponsorship processes, including applications, compliance, and onboarding of sponsored employees.Develop and deliver structured onboarding programs to ensure smooth integration of new employees.Employment Relations & CompliancePrepare, review, and maintain employment contracts, position descriptions, and HR policies.
Advise managers on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with the Fair Work Act, awards, and enterprise agreements.Support grievance and disciplinary processes with fairness and compliance.Compensation & BenefitsDesign, implement, and maintain pay structures aligned with industry benchmarks and company budgets.
Oversee payroll data accuracy and liaise with finance as required.Advise management on remuneration, allowances, and benefits.Work Health & Safety / Workers’ CompensationOversee workers’ compensation claims, liaising with insurers, injured employees, and managers to ensure effective case management.
Collaborate with HSE team to promote safe work practices and compliance with WHS legislation.Workforce Planning & DevelopmentPartner with managers to identify workforce needs, succession planning, and talent pipelines.
Develop training and professional development initiatives to upskill staff.Monitor and report on HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and performance trends.General HR LeadershipAct as a trusted advisor to leadership and staff on HR matters.
Drive a positive workplace culture that supports engagement, retention, and productivity.Continuously improve HR systems, processes, and procedures.Key Requirements
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).Minimum 5 years’ HR experience, preferably within construction, contracting, or similar industries.Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, awards, and visa sponsorship requirements.Demonstrated experience with employment contracts, pay structures, and workers’ compensation case management.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Ability to balance strategic initiatives with hands-on operational HR tasks.Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Performance Indicators
