Senior Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer

Responsibilities

• Work under the mentorship and guidance of a Lead Instrumentation Engineer.
• Development a variety of I&C design documents such as design drawings, technical specifications, design basis, calculations, instrument selection, procurement support with a high level of competence and minimal oversight.
• Work efficiently to assure that project schedules and budgets are met.
• Work independently and collaborate in cross-discipline team to meet project goals.
• Compliance with North American Codes and Standards, governing regulations, industry practices, and internal procedures.
• Develop and perform quality reviews for detailed and design documents.
• Review of instrument and control systems vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers / designers.
• Participate in the development and design review of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Prepare and review control deliverables such as Control Narratives, Cause and Effect diagrams, System Architecture Diagrams, Instrument Location Layouts, Installation Details, Wiring & Interconnection Diagrams, PLC Layouts, and Loop Drawings.
• Prepare I&C lists such as equipment list, IO list, I / O assignment, Instrument Index, Serial Interface list, cable list, etc.
• Perform instrument sizing calculations and selection.
• Developing and reviewing Instrumentation Datasheets for instruments and valves.
• Provide configuration of and programming of controls equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, DCS Systems, etc.
• Participate in client and project review meetings.
• Prepare technical bid evaluation and attend FAT.
• Collaboration with project management / engineering discipline to develop project budgets, schedule, prepare scoping documents, design criteria and list of project deliverables.
• Promote engineering professionalism and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
