About the Role :
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Business Analyst with a strong background in Data Warehousing to join our consulting team. This role is critical in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, particularly within complex data environments. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical skills, a deep understanding of data architecture, and the ability to translate intricate business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications. While not mandatory, prior experience in the Pharmaceutical industry will be a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities :
Requirements Elicitation & Analysis :
- Lead and facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings with business stakeholders (including executive leadership, operational teams, and end-users) to thoroughly understand and document complex business processes and data requirements for Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence initiatives.
- Analyze existing data sources, systems, and reports to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for data integration and enhancement.
- Translate high-level business objectives into detailed, unambiguous, and testable functional and non-functional requirements.
Documentation & Modeling :
Develop comprehensive documentation, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), Use Cases, User Stories, Process Flows, Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs), and Data Models (conceptual, logical).Create source-to-target mappings and data transformation rules, collaborating closely with data architects and ETL developers.Maintain and manage requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.Data Analysis & Solution Design :
Perform in-depth data analysis using SQL to explore data, validate assumptions, identify data quality issues, and support data profiling efforts.Collaborate with technical teams (ETL developers, data architects, BI developers) to design optimal data warehouse solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and data integrity.Propose innovative solutions to complex data challenges, aligning with industry best practices and client strategic goals.Stakeholder Communication & Management :
Act as the primary liaison between business users and technical development teams, ensuring clear communication and mutual understanding of requirements and technical constraints.Present findings, recommendations, and solution designs to stakeholders at various levels, adapting communication style to the audience.Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate consensus on requirements and scope.Quality Assurance & Support :
Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans and test cases, coordinating UAT activities with business users.Support testing efforts by clarifying requirements, analyzing defects, and assisting in defect resolution.Provide post-implementation support and training as needed.Project Lifecycle Contribution :
Contribute to project planning, scope definition, risk assessment, and change management processes.Work effectively in Agile / Scrum or Waterfall methodologies as required by the project.Required Technical Skills :
Extensive Data Warehousing Expertise : Proven experience with Data Warehousing concepts, Kimball methodologies (Dimensional Modeling, Star / Snowflake schemas), and Data Mart design.SQL Proficiency : Advanced SQL skills for data querying, analysis, profiling, and validation across large datasets.ETL Concepts : Strong understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools.Business Intelligence Tools : Familiarity with leading BI and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, Cognos, BusinessObjects).Data Governance & Quality : Understanding of data governance principles, data quality frameworks, and master data management (MDM) concepts.Cloud Data Platforms (Advantageous) : Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery) is a plus.Preferred Domain Experience :
Data Warehouse Experience (Mandatory) : Minimum of 8 years of dedicated experience as a Business Analyst on Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, or large-scale data integration projects.Pharmaceutical Industry Experience (Advantageous) : Prior experience working within the Pharmaceutical sector, understanding its data complexities, regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP, FDA), and common business processes (e.g., clinical trials, R&D, manufacturing, sales & marketing data).Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.8+ years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst, with a significant focus on Data Warehousing projects.Key Attributes & Soft Skills :
