THE ROLE :
The IT Infrastructure & Virtualization System Administrator will be responsible for supporting and managing IT Infrastructure and Virtualization environments, including VMware, Nutanix AHV, and Oracle LVM (primarily in TEST environments and for related projects). The role involves providing technical support to the Testing Centre of Excellence (TCOE) team, ensuring system stability, security, and performance across all infrastructure layers.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manage and administer HPE Synergy Enclosures, Blade, and Rack-Mountable Servers.
- Conduct server capacity planning, requirement gathering, and hardware lifecycle management.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Coordinate with vendors for RMA (Return Material Authorization) and manage escalations.
- Administer Windows and RHEL operating systems with integrated storage systems knowledge.
- Install, deploy, and manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix AHV, Oracle LVM) on blade and rack servers.
- Configure and administer virtual networks (standard and distributed switches).
- Ensure application and service availability within the virtual environment.
- Manage clusters, resource pools, templates, and virtual machine deployments.
- Execute P2V and V2V migrations as required.
- Conduct resource capacity planning and maintain optimal load distribution across hosts.
- Manage backups using Veeam Backup and Micro Focus Tape Backup solutions.
- Schedule, monitor, and verify daily, weekly, and monthly backup jobs.
- Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and reporting mechanisms.
- Implement and maintain ISO, audit, and compliance controls.
- Ensure adherence to IT governance, change management, and information security policies.
- Maintain proper documentation and system audit trails.
- Comply with organizational risk management frameworks and operational standards.
- Identify and mitigate infrastructure vulnerabilities and ensure business continuity readiness.
- Follow SOPs, change management, and incident response procedures.
- Maintain updated asset inventories, patch management, and disaster recovery documentation.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 27001 and ITIL practices.
REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Professional certifications in Virtualization (VMware, Nutanix, Oracle LVM) , Backup Administration , or Server Hardware Management preferred.Minimum 10 years of experience in IT Infrastructure Management within a reputed organization.Proven expertise in server administration , virtualization technologies , and data protection solutions .Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and planning skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Effective time management and multitasking capability.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors.Skills Required
