Role Overview

Blue Spire is seeking a PL / pgSQL Developer with 2+ years of dedicated experience in PostgreSQL for banking applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PL / pgSQL development, query optimization, and batch job analysis. This role involves working on payment processing workflows, troubleshooting issues, and enhancing database performance to ensure secure, efficient, and accurate transaction processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and enhance payment systems, including batch processing and transaction flows.
  • Design, develop, and optimize PL / pgSQL procedures, functions, and triggers for data processing.
  • Debug and tune SQL queries for high-performance, large-scale payment processing systems.
  • Automate data processing and reconciliation workflows using PostgreSQL and Unix / Linux shell scripting.
  • Identify and resolve database bottlenecks, deadlocks, and performance issues.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot batch jobs and system logs to proactively identify failures.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with regulatory standards (ACH, NACHA, PCI-DSS).
  • Support data migration and ETL processes during system upgrades.
  • Collaborate with business teams, payment domain experts, and application support teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL / PL / pgSQL development experience (procedures, functions, triggers, query tuning).
  • Practical knowledge of PostgreSQL database administration and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in Unix / Linux shell scripting for job automation.
  • Experience with ETL tools, data migration, and batch job scheduling (Control-M, Autosys, or Crontab).
  • Understanding of message queues (Kafka, IBM MQ) for payment processing.
  • Prior work in the Banking & Financial Services (BFSI) domain , preferably ACH payments processing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards (ACH, NACHA, PCI-DSS, SOX).
