What you'll do
As part of the mechanical team, you will be the driving force behind the hardware, from initial design and prototyping to the final build and on-orbit performance. We're looking for an engineer with the skills to turn complex electromechanical systems into reality, and the passion to see them deployed in space. This role requires working across multiple disciplines and subsystems, collaborating with a
team to develop solutions that will enable first-of-its-kind satellite servicing.
Responsibilities
- Development of electro-mechanical space systems. Includes design, prototyping, production, and testing
- Collaborate with other subsystems such as avionics, power systems, and structures to deliver integrated systems optimized for packaging, build, and operations
- Conduct design reviews, trade-off studies, and documentation across different stages of development
- Analysis of electro-mechanical systems via classical and computer methods
- Identify, test, and integrate instruments like IMUs, motor encoders, and power systems
- Run development tests to debug designs
- Maintain and improve test fixture control and data acquisition software
- Inspection and quality control of machined parts
- Understanding of electrical soldering and harness requirements, and procedures
