The Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing all taxation-related matters for the logistics company, ensuring compliance with direct and indirect tax laws, timely filing of returns, handling audits, and supporting financial planning and reporting activities. The role requires strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and corporate tax, along with an understanding of logistics sector transactions such as freight, warehousing, and transportation billing.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Tax Compliance & Filings
Prepare, review, and file
GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9)
and reconcile with books.
Manage
TDS / TCS compliance , including deduction, payment, and return filing.
Support
income tax return
preparation and coordinate with auditors for assessments.
Ensure
timely payment
of all tax liabilities and maintain accurate tax records.
2. Audit & Assessment
Coordinate with statutory, internal, and tax auditors for audit requirements.
Handle
GST audits, departmental queries, and notices
from tax authorities.
Assist in preparation of replies, documentation, and data for tax assessments.
3. Reconciliations & Reporting
Perform
tax reconciliations
(books vs returns) on a monthly basis.
Analyze
input tax credit (ITC)
eligibility and ensure proper utilization.
Provide
tax reports
and analysis to management for financial planning.
4. Advisory & Process Improvement
Advise the finance team on
tax implications
of business transactions in logistics (freight billing, inter-state movement, warehousing, etc.).
Monitor changes in tax laws and implement required process updates.
Support automation of tax-related workflows and maintain compliance accuracy.
Required Qualifications & Skills :
Education :
CA is Must
Experience :
3–6 years of relevant experience in taxation, preferably in the logistics or service industry.
Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of
GST, TDS, and Income Tax
laws.
Proficiency in
MS Excel, Tally, SAP, or any ERP
system.
Understanding of
logistics billing and inter-branch transactions.
Soft Skills :
Attention to detail and analytical mindset.
Strong communication and coordination abilities.
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Preferred :
Experience handling multi-state GST registrations.
Prior exposure to logistics operations such as freight, warehousing, and fleet management.
