General Manager – India

Location : New Delhi, India (field-based with national travel)

Reports to : Managing Director

Hartmann Young is partnered with a global leader in IVD , headquartered in Europe, with more than 50 years of experience and a presence in over 160 countries. Their comprehensive portfolio covers clinical chemistry, hematology, infectious diseases, molecular diagnostics, and more.

The role

We're looking for a high-energy, commercially driven General Manager to lead our business in India, based in New Delhi. You will be responsible for driving growth, building market presence, and ensuring operational excellence. Leading a team of Sales Managers and Technical Support staff, you will combine strong leadership with hands-on commercial acumen , guiding the business to achieve ambitious targets. This role is ideal for a go-getter with a proven track record in the IVD sector and the drive to take ownership of a fast-growing market.

The responsibilities

  • Lead the organisation in India, managing sales and technical support teams to deliver strong business performance.
  • Drive sales growth, market penetration, and profitability across India.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, hospitals, laboratories, and government stakeholders.
  • Oversee distributor management, including recruitment, development, and performance monitoring.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with regional and global objectives.
  • Ensure excellence in customer support, technical service, and product delivery.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Represent the company at conferences, exhibitions, and industry events.

The person

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • ~15 years of experience in the IVD sector , with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role .
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to deliver on growth and profitability targets.
  • Experience working with distributor networks in India.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in English (essential); Hindi also a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset : results-oriented, high energy, and a self-starter.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across India.
