Job description

A senior data engineer supports data ingestion for rapid prototyping and experimentation in

data analytics projects. The role will support both a traditional business intelligence function as

well as advanced analytics like machine learning and predictive modelling.

A senior data engineer takes on architectural and performance optimization tasks, lead

projects of system caliber integrations.

Considered an expert “go-to” person.

Serves as coach and mentor to staff.

Demonstrates expert level of competency in trouble shooting and problem solving together

with expert customer and vendor / partner interface skills.

Leads advanced group and enterprise level technology planning.

Oversee and Build processes that efficiently ingest data from multiple sources and

intelligently handle the scale and complexities of real-world data.

  • Implement processes and systems to supervise data quality, ensuring production

data is always accurate and available for the teams that depend on it.

  • Gather requirements from the rest of the data team and other internal stakeholders to

    • identify opportunities for improvements, set priorities, and execute.

  • Work with other teams in IT to ensure that data handling complies with all external

    • regulations and internal standards.

  • Assist in the governance of our shared BI platform and assist citizen developers in

    • their BI projects.

  • Build data models that scale up efficiently and are integrated with Azure DevOps and

    • DBT Cloud.

  • Build and maintain Security interfaces within Snowflake.
  • Ensure cost control and perform performance optimization in Snowflake.
  • Work with stakeholders and architecture team to ensure the data applications

    • developed are the single source of truth of their respective functional reporting area.

  • Responsible of the architectural layout in Snowflake and Azure Data Factory.
  • Ensure effective on-boarding of partners, using Azure DevOps and DBT.
  • Issue development guidelines, standards and assure implementation.
  • Respect and propose metrics for Snowflake environment’s health.

    • 5+ years as a data engineer, or a role with similar skillsets

  • Proven experience with Snowflake, certification desired
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform, specifically Azure Data Factory
  • Experience with SQL and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with BI tools like Power BI or Qlik
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related technical

    • degree

  • Fluent in English, written and verbal
  • Self-Manages : Demonstrated ability to work autonomously towards a goal
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Knowledge of common data regulations like GDPR
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Ability to communicate technical content in business terms
  • Experience with Python
  • Data Architecture experience or knowledge of best standards and techniques
