Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead Azure-based migration and modernization efforts for enterprise-scale SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL environments. You will be responsible for end-of-life (EOL) planning, compliance readiness, discovery & mapping, and performance benchmarking for legacy and cloud-native database deployments .This is a hands-on migration and governance role—ideal for a senior IC (Individual Contributor) who has worked in Azure-based transformation programs and understands the nuances of hybrid architectures. The role demands experience with Azure SQL MI, SQL Server Always On, and migration scripting (PowerShell). Strong exposure to DMA / DMS tooling, compliance standards (e.G., CIS), and rollback strategy planning is required.

Must have experience of at least 2+ years in Azure DB migration
SQL Server (2016–2022)
Owned Always On HA / DR setup, failover simulation, and index tuning across prod / test environments. Familiar with DB snapshots and patch rollbacks.
Azure SQL / SQL MI
Contributor-level in projects migrating to Azure SQL MI. Aware of MI-specific limitations vs. SQL on VM. Participated in baseline planning, backup, and DR setup.
Oracle 11g / 12c / 19c
Involved in upgrade validation and patching cycles. Did not own Oracle infra but contributed to schema assessment and EOL reporting.
Azure DMS / DMA
executed DMS-based schema / data migrations with lead engineer supervision. Must be able to handle common errors and retry flows.
PowerShell / Bash
Can modify and extend existing migration scripts. Familiar with scheduling, error logging, and parameter handling. Doesn’t need to author complex new scripts from scratch.
Query Optimization
Independently tuned performance issues using SQL Profiler, Query Store, and execution plans. Familiar with index design, statistics update, and wait type analysis.
HA / DR Readiness
Participated in DR test cycles. Validated backup / restore, configured failover groups under supervision. Can read HA / DR configurations and validate health status.
Security & Compliance (CIS)
Applied encryption-at-rest, audit logging, and user access best practices. Does not need to be an AHUB / BYOL expert but should understand secure deployment principles.
Dependency Mapping
Collaborated with App Owners to identify DB–App dependencies. Created system-impact checklists. Not expected to be primary architect for dependency graphs.

Familiar with DevOps pipelines that included DB provisioning / migration steps (e.G., YAML templates). No need to write from scratch.
Runbook Authoring
Contributed to migration rollback documents or failover SOPs. Familiar with documenting DR paths, backup scripts, etc.
Client Interaction
