We have a dedicated team of individuals that are trained on tasks related to finance consulting and compliance management. We are now expanding our Technology vertical and here is an opportunity to join us.

About the Role

This is a high-impact, individual contributor role where you'll own critical ML models and backend systems from Day 1, working directly with the founding team to shape product architecture.

Location : Udupi or Mangalore, Karnataka, India

Experience : 3-5 years

What You'll Build (First 12 Months)

ML & Intelligence Systems (60% of role)
Backend & Integration Infrastructure (40% of role)

Key Technical Challenges

Handling India-Specific Complexity : GST rules change quarterly; tax logic spans CGST / SGST / IGST / TDS with 20+ scenarios

Unreliable External APIs : GST Portal has 60-70% uptime; you'll build resilient systems with offline fallbacks and retry logic

On-Premises Integration : Deploy connector agents behind corporate firewalls with auto-update capabilities

Data Quality at Scale : Process invoices with messy, inconsistent data while maintaining 95%+ accuracy

Real-Time vs Batch : Balance instant validation needs with rate-limited APIs (100 calls / min for Zoho, unpredictable for GST Portal)

Must-Have Technical Skills

Machine Learning

3+ years of production ML experience (preferably in OCR, NLP, or document processing)

Hands-on with AWS Textract, Tesseract , or similar OCR engines

Experience with GPT-4 / LLM fine-tuning for domain-specific tasks

Strong understanding of anomaly detection , statistical analysis, and fraud detection algorithms

Proficiency in Python (scikit-learn, TensorFlow / PyTorch, pandas, numpy)

Backend Engineering

4+ years of backend development in Python (FastAPI / Django) or Node.js

Strong REST API design and OAuth 2.0 implementation experience

Database expertise : PostgreSQL (transactional integrity, audit logs) and Redis (caching, queues)

Experience with ODBC connections and XML / SOAP APIs (for legacy system integration)

Understanding of workflow orchestration (Temporal.io, Celery, or Airflow)

Integration & Data

Built integrations with unreliable third-party APIs (rate limiting, retry logic, error handling)

Experience with webhook systems and real-time data sync

Knowledge of data consistency patterns (atomicity, idempotency, rollback mechanisms)

Comfortable with ETL pipelines and data validation at scale

Nice-to-Have (But Not Required)

Prior experience with Indian accounting systems (Tally, Zoho Books, Busy, Vyapar)

Understanding of Indian tax compliance (GST, TDS, e-invoicing)

Familiarity with on-premise connector agents or desktop application deployment

Experience in fintech or financial auditing domains

Knowledge of Benford's Law and financial fraud detection

Background in security compliance (SOC2, audit trails, access controls)

Startup Expectations

Ownership : You'll own entire subsystems end-to-end (no hand-holding)

Speed : Ship features in weeks, not months; iterate based on pilot client feedback

Pragmatism : Choose 'build vs wrapper'

Documentation : Write clear technical specs; you may hand off modules to junior engineers as team scales

On-Call Rotation : Be available for critical production issues (after Month 6)
