Role Description

We are recruiting a versatile Founding AI Engineer to build the intelligence layer of Stellar’s agentic client experience- natural, personalized, and multimodal interactions :

Build AI-driven onboarding, advisory, and reporting experiences that feel human, trustworthy, and explainable, while ensuring safety with compliance guardrails

Continuously refine how the platform understands and reasons about user intent, risk appetite, and financial priorities

Collaborate with design, quant, engineering, and client partnerships teams to turn fuzzy user inputs into structured, actionable representations for downstream quant investment systems

Stay on top of the fast-evolving AI landscape, experimenting with new capabilities that can improve internal frameworks- from workflow automation and client partner assistance to data enrichment and knowledge retrieval

Preferred Background

Experience : 4+ years in applied AI / ML engineering, ideally building conversational or multimodal, or reasoning systems integrated into live products

Education : Strong academic background from premier institutions

Prior Roles : Proven zero-to-one experience of quickly shipping high-quality products in fintech / wealthtech startups, or directly relevant PhD

Mindset : User empathy, relentless iterations, AI-native productivity, end-to-end ownership, and bias toward shipping

Or something untraditional that trumps all of the above
