Job description of Senior Development Engineer

Position : Senior Development Engineer

Location : Gurugram

Role Summary : The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing complex software solutions, providing technical oversight, and driving the development of high-quality, secure, and scalable applications. This role requires a proactive and innovative engineer who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, lead technical initiatives, and drive continuous improvement in our development processes.

Key Responsibilities

Code Development & Implementation : Develop code based on technical specifications provided by the Lead / Manager, ensuring adherence to quality standards and best practices.

Collaboration with Teams : Work closely with various development teams, product managers and business analysts to design and, implement new initiatives that align with business goals.

Technical Oversight & Governance : Provide technical oversight and enforce governance standards for system designs. Ensure that architectural designs are executed effectively and align with organizational objectives and best practices.

Cross-functional Interaction : Act as a representative of the development team when interacting with production support staff, other development teams, and global engineering groups. Effectively communicate the application team’s perspective and requirements to stakeholders.

Application Integrity & Compliance : Ensure the integrity of the application by implementing security standards, compliance protocols, and best practices in code quality and system design.

Innovation & Process Improvement : Identify areas for improvement within development processes and work with technology teams to refine and enhance these processes.

Initiative Leadership : Lead efforts to introduce new tools or software that can streamline development workflows or enhance application performance and security.

Issue Diagnosis & Troubleshooting : Take the lead in diagnosing and resolving complex engineering issues, providing technical solutions that minimize downtime and improve system reliability.

Must have :

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications is a plus.

5+ years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining complex applications in a collaborative environment.

Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.G., Java, JavaScript, Python).

Strong understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and architectural principles.

Familiarity with agile development methodologies and modern development tools (e.G., Git, JIRA, Jenkins).

Experience with cloud platforms, microservices, or distributed systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to a collaborative and innovative team culture.

Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-centric approach to solutions.
