Senior Java Microservices Engineer (Spring Boot | Reactive | Cloud – AWS / Azure)

About the Role :

We are looking for a Senior Java Microservices Engineer with deep expertise in Java 17 , Spring Boot , and reactive programming . You’ll design and develop high-performance, scalable, event-driven microservices deployed across AWS and Azure cloud environments. This role offers the opportunity to influence architectural decisions, mentor peers, and shape modern backend solutions for large-scale distributed systems.

⚙️ Key Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and maintain reactive microservices using Java 17 , Spring Boot , and Spring WebFlux .
  • Implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka and Azure Event Hub .
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams for deployment, monitoring, and scaling in AWS and Azure .
  • Build and maintain secure, performant REST APIs with asynchronous, non-blocking I / O.
  • Ensure system reliability , observability , and effective monitoring (metrics, tracing, logging).
  • Conduct code reviews , drive best practices , and mentor junior engineers .
  • Design distributed systems with attention to performance, scalability, and fault tolerance .
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, production-grade microservices.

🚀 Must-Have Skills :

Core Technical Expertise

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem (Boot, Web, Data).
  • Java 17 and Spring Boot (Spring Web, Spring Data, WebFlux)
  • Reactive programming (Project Reactor)
  • Event-driven systems – Kafka (Producers, Consumers, Streams) or Azure Event Hub
  • REST API design & development (asynchronous, non-blocking)
  • AWS or Azure Cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, SNS / SQS, Event Hub, Azure SDKs)
  • Containerization (Docker) and familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Microservices testing – contract testing, mocking, Testcontainers
  • CI / CD pipelines – GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar
  • Observability tools – Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Datadog

    • Architecture & System Design

  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems , including load balancing, caching, partitioning, and data flow optimization
  • Understanding of system scalability and fault tolerance
  • Experience in secure API design and performance optimization

    • Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and lead technical discussions
  • Analytical thinker with a problem-solving mindset
  • Proactive , self-driven, and passionate about emerging technologies
  • Comfortable working in Agile / Scrum environments

    • 🌐 Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with both AWS and Azure cloud ecosystems
  • Exposure to observability platforms (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Datadog)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Experience in Agile and CI / CD automation pipelines
