Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cognos Analytics Developer (4–6 years) to design, develop, and implement end-to-end BI solutions. The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on expertise in IBM Cognos Analytics, data modeling, dashboard / report development, and SQL, with a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts.

Key Responsibilities

Cognos Development & Reporting

Design and develop Cognos reports, dashboards, and visualizations.

Create and optimize Framework Manager models, data modules, and data sets.

Build reusable templates, prompts, filters, and complex calculations.

Implement and manage user security, access controls, and permissions.

Data Modeling & ETL Collaboration

Work with data engineering teams for data integration and data availability.

Perform data modeling, data validation, and data mapping.

Support ETL / ELT processes and troubleshoot data-related issues.

Performance Optimization

Monitor and optimize report / query performance.

Tune data models and SQL queries for efficiency.

Business Interaction & Support

Gather requirements and convert them into scalable BI solutions.

Provide documentation, user training, and production support.

Project & Delivery

Handle multiple BI deliverables in parallel.

Ensure adherence to data governance and reporting best practices.

Required Skills

4–6 years of hands-on experience in IBM Cognos Analytics (11.x preferred).

Strong expertise in :

Framework Manager, Report Studio, Report Authoring, Dashboards, Stories, Data Modules, Data Sets.

Strong SQL skills (Oracle / SQL Server / DB2).

Good understanding of BI and data warehousing concepts.

Experience in report automation, scheduling, and Cognos security setup.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Good to Have

Cognos Administration (deployment, configuration).

Scripting : Python / Shell.

Exposure to cloud BI (AWS, Azure).

Familiarity with BI tools : Power BI, Tableau, Qlik.
