The Junior Mechanical Design Engineer will support the engineering team in designing, developing, and improving mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. This role involves creating 3D models, engineering drawings, performing basic calculations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about mechanical design and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings in tools such as Solid Works, Creo, CATIA, or Auto CAD.
- Assist in the development of mechanical components, assemblies, and prototypes.
- Perform basic engineering calculations (tolerancing, fits, stress fundamentals, material selection).
- Support DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) activities with guidance from senior engineers.
- Prepare and update design documentation, Bill of Materials (BOM), and engineeringchange notices (ECNs).
- Maintain organized project files and adhere to internal quality and design standards.
Required skills and qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Inventor, etc.).
- Understanding of basic engineering principles: mechanics, thermodynamics, materials, GD&T basics.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Eagerness to learn and adapt.
- Attention to detail, Creativity and willingness to propose new ideas.
- Exposure to CAE tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, SolidWorks Simulation).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal, or 3D printing.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (Team center, Windchill, etc.).
