About this Position
The Scientific Associate – PD Building Components plays a key role in driving innovation and advancing Henkel’s technology leadership in adhesives and building component solutions. In this role, you will contribute to the development of next-generation adhesive systems through hands-on formulation work, technical experimentation, and data-driven optimization. You will collaborate closely with global R&D teams, share scientific insights, and support critical projects that shape the future product portfolio. The role also involves strengthening Henkel’s intellectual property, engaging with external partners, and representing the organization within the broader scientific community. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about polymer chemistry, eager to explore new technologies, and motivated to make a meaningful impact on real-world applications.
What you´ll do
- Research and develop innovative, cutting-edge technologies for Building Components.
- Lead and support knowledge sharing across teams; provide technical guidance for problem-solving.
- Secure intellectual property in assigned development areas and contribute to patent filings.
- Actively contribute to scientific publications, conferences, and technical forums through papers and presentations.
- Serve as a technical consultant for management and steering committees.
- Identify opportunities for new technologies, product innovations, and performance enhancements.
- Lead one or more R&D projects that are critical to business priorities.
- Make specialized technical knowledge available across the organization to build overall capability.
- Act as an ambassador for the scientific community within Henkel Business Unit.
- Identify, evaluate, and engage with valuable external partners and research networks.
What makes you a good fit
Minimum 2 years of relevant industry or research experience.Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related fields.Strong expertise in adhesive technologies, including hotmelts (PSA & non-PSA), liquid PU, water-based systems, and PU dispersions.Solid background in polymer chemistry and formulation science, with hands-on experience in lab-scale formulation and testing.Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools for formulation optimization; understanding of adhesive performance tests (peel, shear, tensile).Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.Effective communication and teamwork capabilities in a global, cross-functional environment.Competence in digital tools, data handling, and maintaining precise technical documentation.Some perks of joining Henkel
