Job description

Hiring for 'WORKS MANAGER" for a leading chemical manufacturing company.

Location-Jungalpur plant / Kolkata / West Bengal.

The Works Manager is responsible for the overall management and efficient functioning of the chemical manufacturing plant. This includes overseeing production, maintenance, safety, quality, and statutory compliance while ensuring cost efficiency, high productivity, and adherence to environmental and safety norms.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Plant Operations Management :

  • Plan, organize, and oversee day-to-day plant operations to meet production targets.
  • Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality parameters, and safety standards.
  • Monitor key operational metrics such as yield, throughput, and downtime.

2. Process & Productivity Improvement :

  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with the technical and R&D teams for process optimization and scale-up of new products.
  • 3. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) :

  • Ensure strict compliance with statutory and company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, HAZOP studies, and training programs.
  • Maintain zero-incident culture and ensure environmental norms are met.
  • 4. Maintenance & Asset Management :

  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure plant reliability and minimal breakdowns.
  • 5. Quality & Compliance :

  • Ensure adherence to ISO, GMP, and other relevant quality standards.
  • Work closely with QA / QC teams for product quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • 6. People Management :

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate plant staff for optimal performance.
  • Drive skill development and ensure a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • 7. Cost & Inventory Control :

  • Monitor raw material usage, energy consumption, and operating costs.
  • Ensure efficient inventory management and minimize wastage.
  • 8. Liaison & Reporting :

  • Coordinate with corporate teams for planning, budgeting, and performance reviews.
  • Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies for compliance and statutory approvals.
  • Qualifications & Experience :

  • Education : B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Experience : 10–15 years in chemical / process manufacturing with at least 3–5 years in a plant leadership role.
  • Industry Exposure : Experience in bulk chemicals, specialty chemicals, or petrochemical manufacturing preferred.
