Job description

Role and Responsibilities :

  • Monitor and troubleshoot database instances.
  • Perform root-cause analysis in response to database environment events.
  • Identify opportunities for improved system performance and process improvements.
  • Perform code reviews, and assist teams across the organization with query optimization.
  • Modify and build automated environment installation and setup processes.
  • Serve as a SME for specific technical topics and team operations.
  • Architect database high availability and database backup and restore processes.
  • Review and execute data manipulation scripts created by internal and external team members.
  • Build external networks to help accomplish team and company objectives.
  • Contribute to other team efforts as needed to support day-to-day database operations.
  • Complete infrastructure planning, provisioning, and maintenance tasks to ensure the required resources are available for application functionality
  • Complete functionality reviews for services and technology that both internal and external teams want to use in the database environment.
  • Create and drive project solutions that are consistent with stated objectives and guidelines.
  • Provide guidance to other DBAs on technology topics.
  • Recommend new technologies and processes that can be used to manage database environments.
  • Participate in production support on-call rotation to triage and resolve critical issues outside of business hours.

Job Requirement :

  • 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator working with SQL Server 2017 or higher.
  • 3+ years of experience configuring and maintaining AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or another related field, or equivalent. experience in IT related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing computing concepts and infrastructure management.
  • Expert knowledge of common database administration tasks such as backup & restore, integrity checks, disaster recovery, and security.
  • Proven experience in performance tuning concepts.
  • Prior experience supporting database and application development teams.
  • Thorough knowledge reading and writing complex SQL scripts.
  • General knowledge reading and writing Powershell or other scripting technologies.
  • The ability to solve complex problems independently using analysis and research.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical input both internally and externally.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Experience working in a PCI / SOX, or other compliance regulated environment.
  • General knowledge of at least one other database technology.
  • Ability to work on-call rotation.

    • Preferred :

  • Masters degree in technology, engineering or related field
  • General knowledge of PostgreSQL
  • AWS RDS\Aurora PostgreSQL experience
  • IAC tools, (Terraform, AWS Cloudformation)
