Role Overview :
Lead and manage all aspects of indirect tax compliance, planning, and advisory to ensure the organization’s adherence to indirect tax laws while optimizing tax liabilities. Provide strategic guidance on indirect tax matters to senior management and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee compliance with Goods and Services Tax (GST), Customs Duty, Excise Duty, VAT, and other indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions.
Lead timely and accurate filing of indirect tax returns and ensure adherence to statutory deadlines.
Manage and coordinate tax audits, assessments, and investigations with tax authorities.
Provide expert advisory on complex indirect tax issues related to business transactions, contracts, mergers, and acquisitions.
Develop and implement indirect tax policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risks.
Monitor and interpret changes in indirect tax legislation and assess their impact on business operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, legal, operations) to optimize indirect tax planning and compliance.
Lead dispute resolution and litigation management related to indirect tax matters.
Mentor and guide junior tax professionals and build a high-performing indirect tax team.
Prepare and present detailed reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and board members.
Skills and Qualifications :
Strong knowledge of GST, Customs, Excise, VAT, and other indirect tax laws and regulations.
Proven experience (10+ years) in managing indirect tax functions in large corporations or consulting firms.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
Ability to work independently and lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
Experience :
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in indirect tax roles, with a track record of handling complex tax issues and leading teams.
