Onni Group is seeking a technically strong and highly organized Technical Lead to oversee and support the daily operations of our offshore systems team in India. This leadership role acts as a critical bridge between Onni Group’s Canadian systems leadership and the India-based software and business intelligence teams, ensuring alignment, quality, and productivity across all deliverables.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in software development and data engineering, combined with proven experience leading offshore technical teams. This position requires both hands-on technical expertise and strategic leadership to ensure the team’s work aligns with business objectives and global standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison between Onni’s Canada-based systems leadership and the India offshore team.
- Translate high-level business and technical directions into actionable tasks for offshore developers.
- Lead daily or regular standups to monitor progress, identify blockers, and maintain accountability.
- Coordinate task assignments and delivery tracking using Jira or similar project management tools.
Technical Oversight
Conduct code reviews, data validations, and dashboard testing to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.Support development of reusable templates, standardized processes, and documentation across projects.Act as a player-coach, providing hands-on technical support in software development, data engineering, or Power BI as needed.Ensure deliverables are optimized, technically sound, and aligned with business logic.Training & Development
Mentor and onboard new offshore team members, building understanding of Onni’s systems, data models, and workflows.Identify skill gaps and recommend focused learning or training opportunities.Foster a collaborative, accountable, and growth-oriented team culture.Communication & Reporting
Manage communication flow between Canada and India to ensure dependencies and issues are resolved promptly.Prepare concise progress reports summarizing achievements, risks, and recommendations.Represent the offshore team during project reviews, sprint planning, or leadership updates.Process & Continuous Improvement
Drive consistency in coding, documentation, and development workflows.Identify inefficiencies and propose improvements to enhance delivery quality and team productivity.Collaborate with Canadian leadership to establish governance, standards, and scalable offshore delivery processes.Qualifications
Technical Expertise
8–12 years of total experience, including 4+ years in a supervisory or management role leading software development or BI teams.Proficiency in :Software development : .NET, Python, Power AppsData engineering : SQL, ETL / ELT, Azure Data Lake, DatabricksBusiness Intelligence : Power BI, DAX modeling, SSRSFamiliarity with Azure, Git version control, and CI / CD pipelines.Ability to perform independent code and data quality reviews.Business & Domain Knowledge
Understanding of how software, data, and reporting support real estate, construction, property management, and finance operations.Experience with ERP systems and business workflows (e.g., PO / AP, project accounting, inventory, or budgeting).Strong ability to translate business needs into actionable technical solutions.Leadership & Communication
Proven success managing small, cross-functional technical teams.Excellent communication and coordination skills across time zones.Experience facilitating discussions between technical and business stakeholders.Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and documentation skills.Exceptional English communication, both written and verbal.Soft Skills
