Cost Control Specialist

Role Overview : -

The Costing Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate project cost estimates, analysing technical specifications, developing project budgets, ensuring cost control, and supporting tendering and procurement teams with detailed rate analysis and costing insights. The role demands strong analytical skills, coordination with multiple departments, and the ability to ensure financial accuracy across all project cost components.

Roles and Responsibilities : -

The Costing Engineer will prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for all project requirements by analysing drawings, material specifications, and work scopes. The role includes developing project budgets, monitoring actual costs against estimates, and identifying variances in a timely manner. The engineer will prepare BOQs, perform rate analysis, evaluate vendor quotations, and assist the tendering team with commercial pricing inputs. Continuous coordination with procurement will be essential to verify market rates and ensure cost-effective vendor selection. The job involves tracking material consumption at sites, analysing wastage, and providing cost-saving recommendations. The Costing Engineer will prepare cost reports, maintain documentation, update MIS, and support management with financial insights for decision-making. The role also includes contributing to value engineering, improving costing accuracy, and implementing cost-control processes across projects. Close collaboration with engineering, finance, procurement, and project teams will be required to ensure smooth cost management.

Key Skills Required : -

Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, rate analysis, and estimation

Understanding of EPC / Construction / water project costing

Excellent analytical and numerical skills

Proficiency in Excel and costing software

Ability to coordinate with multiple departments

Knowledge of vendor price evaluation and market rate analysis

Strong reporting and documentation skills
