Position Title : Staff Engineer Architect

Job Description :

Roles & responsibilities :

  • Lead the discovery phase of large projects to come up with a high-level architecture and design.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Design and implement enterprise-wide data architecture strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure data solutions meet performance, reliability, and usability requirements.
  • Architect scalable data solutions using cloud platforms (GCP or Azure) and modern data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake or Databricks).
  • Design and architect scalable data pipelines utilizing Kafka or IBM MQ or ActiveMQ for real-time data ingestion and streaming.
  • Design and architect efficient processes, focusing on cloud-based and streaming architectures often leveraging tools like Dataflow (Apache Beam) or Dataproc.
  • Participate in Architecture Review of solutions within the Domain and for the other domains.
  • Continuous partnership with enterprise architecture team, cross functional teams, including vendor partners, to ensure all solutions are being developed with continuity of the enterprise solution ecosystem, while meeting all security, data governance, legal, risk and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise and Data Architecture teams to shape enterprise architecture guardrails, standards, and patterns.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks for data architecture and engineering. Stay abreast of emerging trends in data architecture, cloud computing, and AI / ML to drive innovation.
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making and promote a data-first culture across the organization.
  • Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to ensure architectural consistency and reusability.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate new technologies and approaches.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, including diagrams, standards, and best practices.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Define and enforce data governance, metadata management, and data quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
  • Ensure quality guidelines and control processes are created and implemented for the technology platforms and products working with data engineering teams.
  • Work with a team of Architects and Tech Leads to define, own and implement the data architecture.
  • Run the architecture and design review meetings.

Experience Required :

  • Proven experience in developing and driving enterprise data strategies, vision, and roadmap to enable digital transformation and data-driven decision making.
  • Extensive collaboration with Senior Leadership across Product and Engineering, delivering architectural design and data solutions for key strategic initiatives.
  • Led cross-functional data architecture teams to deliver robust data models, data platform designs, and enterprise-scale solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in architecting, designing, and implementing highly distributed, scalable, and resilient cloud-based data systems, with deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure, data security, and data engineering best practices.
  • Mentored Solution Architects and Technical Leads on data architecture principles, governance, and modern data platform technologies.
  • Broad knowledge of the eCommerce, Merchandizing, Retail, and Supply Chain ecosystems, with in-depth understanding of relevant data technologies, standards, and business processes.
  • Extensive experience in supporting application needs with robust data architectures, including data integration, APIs, and real-time data processing.
  • Expert in software and data design patterns, implementing best-in-class solutions for high-performance, scalable, and secure data systems.
  • Deep understanding of fundamental architectural principles, frameworks, and technologies such as event-driven architectures, streaming architectures etc. including enterprise data integration.
  • 8 – 12 years as an Architect, building secure, highly available, and scalable distributed data systems.
  • Advanced understanding of data structures, relational and non-relational databases (NoSQL / RDBMS), and high-frequency data / event streaming architectures.
  • Expertise in best practices for systems integration, data security, performance optimization, and enterprise data management.
  • Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Kafka, Dataflow, Airflow or Google Composer, traditional RDBMS, Databricks and other modern cloud / data engineering tools.
  • Broad expertise in the full software and data development lifecycle, with knowledge of Agile, iterative development methodologies, and DevOps practices.
