As a Lead AI / ML Engineer at Optum AI, you’ll be designing and developing AI systems to improve patient care.

About the AI Data Engineering Team

We often deliver the entire solution, from healthcare data integration, AI model deployment, processing, results and analytics, to the applications used for reviewing clinical data and AI results. Our current projects involve building cutting edge Generative AI technologies from scratch. The data we work on ranges from patient charts, radiology reports to X-Rays and other clinical data.

Primary Responsibilities :

Lead the design and implementation of systems that enables Optum to derive information from patient data in a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective manner

Analyze clinical data and determine the best designs on how to process this data

Ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code and specifications

Lead by example to deliver product quality, including agile SCRUM methodologies, unit tests, code reviews and engineering design specifications.

Lead systems design to allow customers to effectively ingest and store patient-related data and for data scientists and engineers to access this data with ease

Research and recommend new AI technologies

Be a trusted technical advisor to management, internal stakeholders, and customers

Mentor and lead other engineers to reach their potential

Leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation

Required Qualifications :

11-15 years of progressive experience in IT

Qualifications with B Tech / M Tech

Proven track record of engaging with customers to design and deliver at least two complete AI products, from ideation to product release

4+ years in Python programming

2+ experience with CI / CD, such as GitHub actions

4+ years of hands-on experience in modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or Google)

2+ Years experience in a team lead role

Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation, such as GitHub CoPilot

Additional Qualifications

Experience designing real time LLM based cloud systems is a plus

Experience in Healthcare is a plus
