Merchandise Manager - Buying & Planning

Job descriptionOversee the complete buying process—product selection, vendor negotiations, pricing, and allocations. Ensure optimal inventory flow and timely replenishment across channels. Partner with design, marketing, and retail teams to build compelling and consumer-relevant product stories. Monitor sales performance, stock health, and product lifecycle to maximize sell-through and margin. Manage markdowns, discounting strategies, and inventory liquidation effectively. Use data-driven insights to optimize inventory and strengthen category performance. Lead and inspire a growing team of buyers, planners, and analysts (team size 10–15+). Build a high-performance culture with clear goals, mentoring, and development programs. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders—Retail Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance—for seamless execution. Review seasonal merchandise performance and KPIs including sell-through, GMROI, margin, and inventory turns. Provide actionable insights for year-on-year growth, efficiency, and profitability. Lead business reviews and support management in strategic decision-making. 12–18 years of proven experience in merchandising, buying, and planning within retail, sportswear, fashion, or lifestyle industries. Deep expertise in OTB planning, category management, and inventory control. Strong leadership skills with experience managing high-performing merchandising teams. Data-driven with a strong analytical and commercial mindset. Hands-on exposure to both offline retail and e-commerce ecosystems. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation abilities.
