Role - MySQL DBA

Required Technical Skill Set - MySQL Database Administrator

Desired Experience Range - 10-15 Years

Location of Requirement - Kolkata

Desired Competencies (Technical / Behavioral Competency)

Must-Have

  • 5-8 years of experience in MySQL Database Administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL versions 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8 and 8.4.
  • Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases to ensure their operational efficiency.
  • Tune database performance and execute backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively address potential issues or bottlenecks.
  • Hands-on experience in performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Implement security measures in line with compliance standards and best practices.
  • Work with software developers to optimize queries and improve database design.
  • Solid understanding of Unix / Linux system administration related to MySQL.
  • Proficiency in writing complex shell scripting for automation.
  • Good communication skills with both technical and management teams

Good-to-Have

  • Expertise in all major versions of MySQL including Oracle and MariaDB.
  • Expertise of maintenance / patching mechanics.
  • Experience in database security auditing and compliance.
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform tools for database deployment automation.
  • Hands on Linux and Windows system administration experience is a plus.
  • MySQL and Cloud certifications are preferred.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management procedures.

  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup / recovery, and troubleshooting of MySQL databases across various versions (including MySQL 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8 and 8.4).
  • The candidate should have experience working in high-availability environments and demonstrate strong skills in automation, security, and compliance.
  • Perform periodic maintenance / patching as required
  • Monitor database performance and perform proactive tuning.
  • Tune database performance and execute backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Define and implement best practices and automation initiatives.
  • Lead database migration projects (on-prem to cloud / version upgrades).
