Job description

Position : Freelance WordPress Developer (Remote)

Monthly Hours : ~30 hours per month

Start : Immediately

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrections, bug-fixes and optimisations on our current WordPress site : themes, plugins, CSS / HTML, responsive issues.
  • Mobile / tablet optimisation — ensure site works smoothly & looks good across devices and browsers.
  • Ongoing maintenance : plugin updates, theme updates, WordPress core updates, security updates, performance (speed) monitoring.
  • implement minor new features / enhancements (within scope) — e.G., new form, simple layout change, small UI tweak.
  • Work with our designer / content team to ensure the website remains aligned with brand, is accessible and performs well.
  • Provide monthly report of work done & hours spent. Suggest improvement areas proactively.
  • Ensure backups, staging environment usage where required, and coordinate deployment with team.
  • Ensure clean, well-documented code & notes for future reference.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in WordPress development (themes, child themes, customisation, plugins).
  • Strong CSS / HTML / JS skills;

    • comfortable debugging across devices / browsers.

  • Experience with responsive design, mobile optimisation, performance (speed) tuning (e.G., caching, minification, correct image sizes).
  • Comfortable working remotely, managing own time, communicating clearly.
  • Familiarity with Git / version control a plus.
  • Basic understanding of SEO, site speed best practices and security hardening.
  • Good English communication skills;

    • able to coordinate withremote teams.
