This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer in India.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines that support large-scale analytics and AI-driven initiatives. You will work with structured and semi-structured datasets, leveraging modern data platforms such as Databricks, Delta Lake, and AWS services. This role offers a mix of hands-on engineering, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including ML engineers and data scientists. You will influence architecture decisions, ensure high-quality data workflows, and contribute to performance optimization and governance. The position is fully remote, giving you the flexibility to contribute from anywhere in India while tackling impactful data challenges.

Accountabilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines using PySpark, SQL, Airflow, and cloud data services.
  • Develop and maintain data models (conceptual, logical, physical) for structured and semi-structured datasets.
  • Manage large-scale datasets using Hive, Delta Lake, and Lakehouse architectures.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and security across pipelines and workflows.
  • Collaborate with ML engineers and data scientists to operationalize machine learning models in production.
  • Automate workflows, monitoring, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, providing recommendations on scaling, cost optimization, and tool selection.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in data engineering and MLOps.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or software development, with proven experience maintaining production-grade pipelines.
  • Strong programming skills in PySpark and SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks or AWS data stack (EMR, EKS, S3).
  • Proficiency with Airflow for orchestration and Hive / Delta Lake for data management.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL / ELT design, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed data processing systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, debugging abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Preferred : exposure to machine learning models and MLOps workflows, knowledge of data governance frameworks, CI / CD pipelines for data workflows, real-time streaming frameworks (Kinesis, Spark Streaming), and prior experience mentoring or leading small data engineering teams.
