Powertrain Systems Lead

Job descriptionOwn engineering release processes ensuring specifications, cost, weight, and quality targets are met. Coordinate with CAE teams to implement simulation outputs into design. Maintain and update BOMs, RFQs, ESOWs, and build concern reports (BCRs). Support virtual, prototype, and production builds (VP, TT, PP, etc.). Develop and execute DVP / PVP plans for part and vehicle-level validation. Ensure DFMEA requirements are captured and cascaded to suppliers. Drive homologation and regulatory compliance for all components. Lead supplier onboarding and technical reviews with purchasing and supplier panels. Conduct APQP / PPAP reviews and ensure readiness for builds. Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers for proto and production support. Manage engineering schedules, tooling lead times, and part quality maturation. Provide technical leadership to design engineers and cross-functional teams. Act as the primary contact for day-to-day engineering matters. Mentor junior engineers and ensure alignment with vehicle specification targets. Communicate progress and escalate critical issues as needed. Support cross-functional issue resolution at launch locations. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Production, or related engineering field. 8+ years of experience in powertrain systems engineering (fuel, cooling, exhaust, air intake, EDU casting). Strong understanding of vehicle development, lifecycle and gateway reviews. Proficiency in CAD tools, GD&T, DFM / DFA, and engineering release systems. Experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, CAE / FEA tools, and materials engineering. Exposure to ICE, hybrid, and EV platforms. Knowledge of blow molding, HEX module assembly, after-treatment systems, and air induction technologies. Experience in supplier engagement, tooling, and manufacturing processes. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure. Delivery-focused with a track record of on-time execution. Self-motivated and quality driven. Collaborative team player with strong organizational skills. Flexible and adaptable to dynamic project needs and travel requirements.

Role Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Lead Engineer – Powertrain Systems to lead the design, development, and release of critical powertrain components and subsystems across ICE, hybrid, and electric vehicle platforms. This includes fuel systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, air intake systems, Battery and EDU castings. The role demands strong technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and full lifecycle ownership from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities :
Design & Development
Lead the design and release of (At least one of the below) :
- Fuel systems : tanks, lines, evaporative systems, urea systems.
- Cooling systems : hoses, heat exchangers, fan shrouds.
- Exhaust systems : after-treatment (EU6 / EU7), hot end, cold end.
- Air intake systems : dirty air ducts, air boxes, clean air ducts, engine covers.
- e-Powertrain : Battery, EDU housing and related components.
Conduct system-level packaging studies, feasibility analysis, and concept development.
Ensure compliance with GD&T, DFM / DFA / DFS principles, and internal / external design standards.
Perform bolted joint analysis, tolerance stack-up studies, and material selection.
