Job Summary : The

Design Manager

will oversee the entire carpet design process—from concept to loom. This includes leading the design team, working directly with rural weavers, ensuring timely sampling, and translating market trends into commercially viable designs. The ideal candidate must be equally comfortable in a design studio and in a village setting, communicating effectively in both creative and practical languages.

Key Responsibilities :

Lead the design development process for carpets and rugs (hand-knotted, hand-tufted, flatweaves, etc.).

Supervise a team of in-house designers, graph makers, and field trainers.

Regularly coordinate with production and field teams to ensure smooth design execution in village looms.

Translate global trends and customer briefs into marketable carpet designs.

Ensure consistency in quality, innovation, and brand aesthetics.

Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to support storytelling and product positioning.

Project management skill is must required

Requirements :

Degree in Textile Design, Carpet Design, Fine Arts, or similar.

Minimum 5 years of experience in carpet / rug design, including team management.

Strong understanding of weaving techniques, yarns, color matching, and graph systems.

Proven track record in developing successful collections or custom projects.

Fluent in

Hindi

and

English

for effective communication with artisans.

Willingness to travel regularly to rural weaving centers.

Proficient in design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, NedGraphics, or similar).

Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred Skills :

Experience working in artisan-led or sustainable craft-based organizations.

Knowledge of international design trends and luxury rug markets.

Ability to mentor young designers and coordinate between creative and production teams.
